Heavenly Holodeck Chamber?

The concept of Star Trek's holodeck chamber had to be somebody's genius idea about how to pull great acting talent from their cast. And the Holodeck Chamber idea gives great latitude in how many different ways that the cast can showcase their acting skills. And as much as I realize that all of this is make-believe, I sometimes wonder if everything we read about in the arts follows the age-old adage that art imitates life..

There is a school of thought that believes that all of our fantastical ideas come from a cosmic consciousness; that when we are at our creative best, that even on our downtimes specifically sleeping, that our minds begin to tap into that cosmic consciousness and ideas tumble into our heads. I have a couple of thought processes myself that could explain those magnificent ideas that the creative writer comes up with: 1) the scientific approach, 2) the intellectual approach, 3) the religious approach, & 4) the lifetime-guide approach.

The scientific approach is simply that everything can be explained though a measurement of possibilities with various states-of-nature derived outcomes.

The intellectual approach is that brilliant minds produce superior concepts that can lure the audience into favoring certain shows as being very appealing whereas some other shows are so formulaic as to become so predictable that those shows (books, plays, literature) are not worth watching/reading.

The religious approach and the lifetime guide approach are close to being the same thing except for the fork in the road that separates the religious lot from the atheistic lot. Hence, read the following explanation from whichever side of the fence you prefer to stand on.

The lifetime-guide is that voice you hear when you are about to do anything. "should I?' or ""shouldn't I?". Art, in its various forms, down through the ages encapsulates this concept repeatedly and we mostly recognize it as the little angel on our right shoulder and the little devil on our left shoulder and those little icons of our "imagination" are whispering to us and telling us what to do next. And a choice is made. I believe that we do this ALL DAY LONG. The righteous religious among us then tell me that there is no "Free Will" in that case to which I respond the fact that a choice is made provides proof for the "Free Will" case. We are still making a choice as to what to do next. Whether you choose to believe that voices in your head compel the action or not, the person employing the "Free Will" is still making a choice.

Do I wake up early or stay in bed?

Do I go to the restroom first or wait until my "partner, brother, sister, mother, father, spouse, unicorn, or anybody else" has gotten the heck out of there? My choice is usually to get in there first so I don't have to wait forever to the point that I have been known to go fertilize the yard because I could not wait any longer - and obviously, I am talking about a stand-up routine. There is no way I would ever defecate in the outdoors (aside from camping which I always disliked anyway).

From the religious side, I believe that we have lifetime-guides with us helping us along through life constantly. Is that the fairy-tale I read about on Twitter sometimes? Not exactly: the Atheistic side will let us know that there is some magic fairy in the sky that the religious nuts want to believe exists. I am going to have to let the atheist bunch have their way because there is no sense in arguing the point with them. I do believe it is a better path not to argue that point - I will never change their mind and they will never change mine. So, why waste precious breath. It is almost like the political argument that I am going to leave hanging in the air. Then again, let me pull it back down and ponder this afterthought: Neither side can change the mind of the other side so why waste time arguing? Agree to disagree and stop talking politics - discuss the new inventions in our way of life, discuss the family trees with each other, discuss what choices you made yesterday and how that has affected your life today.

Anyhow, time to go take a shower before my brother gets in there for an hour.

Have a great day and enjoy your life as God has intended.

If you are an atheist, just have a great day.

So it has been awhile!

I find myself in a quandary. I probably should have started this blog thing later in life like in July - actually it would not have made...
